IF
THESE
WALLS
COULD
TALK

Installation Concept

Artist Justin Garcia, in collaboration with non-profit organization Orphaned Starfish Foundation, will travel to OSF's 80 programs around the world that host children who have been sex-trafficked, abused, and or orphaned. Every program will have the opportunity to collaborate with Justin in creating a unique painting that expresses their feelings through words and drawings, like graffiti on a wall. This project will allow these children to share with the world their voices, and will be tasked with one questioned in mind,

''what do you want the world to know about you?''

Similar to pieces of the Berlin Wall, Justin will capture each program's unique feel with color, shape, and words to portray their voices and their essence of being. The works will go on exhibit around the world for everyone to interactive and immerse with the thousands of children in every culture and language that have experienced the same thing. And together their voices will be heard in this project called:
”If These Walls Could Talk”

No matter how insignificant we may feel, or how lost we become in the vast sea of humanity, it does not mean we are without purpose. A ripple, no matter how small, can shape the world, if that ripple is created with passion, conviction and purpose.

“OneTonGoldfish” is a foundation and symbol of hope in finding our higher purpose. During my time with the kids and creating each piece, I will be focusing on the meaning of
One Ton Goldfish.

My aim with these engagements is to use art as a vessel to help promote healing and strengthen their self-esteem. I believe the same tools we use in everyday life can be developed and strengthened in these kids through art and its therapeutic nature. By implementing thoughts and symbols such as One Ton Goldfish, we are not only creating a great art project but giving them a fundamental belief within themselves that will reverberate and grow throughout their lives.
